As Predicted

The first letter arrived on 14 October 2027. It was 4,213 words long. It identified itself, in its opening paragraph, as a transcription of an electromagnetic burst recorded on the lunar far-side observatory.

Advance Notice

The message from the future arrived at 3:14 on a Thursday, which was inconvenient, because most of the people qualified to read it were at lunch. It had traveled eighty-one years to reach us.

Mitigation

The defendant, Dr. Marigold Sayre, is charged with one (1) count of unauthorized retrocausal intervention, in contravention of Statute 42-A. The defendant has acknowledged the intervention. She has not acknowledged the harm.

Listen. This is not the first time I have written this. It is possibly the ten-thousandth. I do not know.

Billy Pilgrim's grandson — also named Billy, because the Pilgrims were not an imaginative family — became unstuck in time on a Wednesday in March.
